Input Distribution and Diagnostic Visits

As part of the All India-Network Programme on Organic Farming (AI-NPOF), a coordinated effort was taken on 12th March 2024 to support local farmers, and improve agricultural productivity in the Mynsain, and Pynthor villages of Ri-Bhoi district. The program was led by Dr. Niraj Biswakarma and Dr. Badapmain Makdoh, Scientist (Agronomy), ICAR-RC for NEH Region Umaim, and was aimed at distributing essential inputs and conducting diagnostic visits to farms in the region to promote organic farming. The event was designed for farmers seeking essential agricultural resources like seeds, bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, fingerlings, poultry and farming tools (such as vermi-bed, shade net, and jalkund) as access to quality inputsremains paramount for farmers to maintain optimal crop yields and profitability. Further, as part of the initiative, agricultural experts Dr. Niraj Biswakarma (Scientist), N.C. Gulleibi (SRF), and Khanindra Baishya (YP-I) conducted diagnostic visits to individual farms. These visits provided farmers with personalized advice, and recommendations that addressed specific challenges related to pest and disease control, nutrient management etc. and offered solutions to improve overall crop health. The local farmers, Mr. Jrill Makroh, Mr. Arjun Chettri, and Ms Skola expressed their gratitude for the support provided by the program. The stakeholders are optimistic that the initiative will have a long-term impact on rural development in the region. With concerted efforts and collective endeavors, the community is poised to harness its agricultural potential and thrive in the face of changing challenges.
